Gene Cloning in the Food Crop Soybean (Glycine max)
Keywords:
Genetic engineering, Gene cloning, soybeanAbstract
The application of genetic engineering to soybean plants has become an interesting research topic in an effort to improve quality, productivity and resistance to environmental stress and pathogen attack in soybean food plants (Glycine max). The aim of this research is to identify effective genetic engineering stages in the development of soybean plants. This research method uses literature studies from various published sources, involving DNA extraction, gene cloning, gene design, genetic transformation, and plant recovery in the field. The research results show that gene cloning is used to develop transgenic plants, genetic transformation is carried out to transfer foreign genes to a new genome, and gene design is used to change the arrangement of bases in genes. With this article it can be seen that genetic engineering provides great potential in increasing agricultural production and plant resistance to various environmental challenges, as well as providing hope for creating more superior soybean plant varieties.
