Effectiveness Of Virgin Coconut Oil Therapy On Reducing Pruritus in Patients With Chronic Renal Failure

Chronic renal failure is a progressive and irreversible impairment of kidney function in which the body is unable to maintain metabolism and fluid and electrolyte balance. Pruritus is the most common problem faced by hemodialysis patients. The cause of pruritus in patients with chronic renal failure is xerosis or dry skin. This study is to conduct nursing care for the provision of virgin coconut oil therapy to reduce pruritus in patients with chronic renal failure. The research used is descriptive research with a case study plan using a nursing care approach, namely assessment, nursing diagnosis, nursing intervention, nursing implementation, and nursing evaluation. Researchers conducted nursing care on 1 respondent for 7 days by giving virgin coconut oil. After giving virgin coconut oil for 7 days, the discomfort was resolved with a scale level of 5 which showed a change in the level of pruritus which was previously at 13.
